ISO Accreditations

We finished 2021 on a high note having achieved ISO standards across four areas of operation - ISO 9001 quality management system, ISO 14001 environmental management, ISO 45001 occupational health and safety, ISO 20121 sustainable events. In fact, the INEC was the first event venue in Ireland to be certified to ISO 20121 sustainable events standards. Starting with the organic quality in our kitchens to the natural cosmetics in our spa areas, we know every step counts. As hosts, inspired by our stunning views of Killarney National Park, we also know that our nature must be preserved. To achieve this we pull together and, by working with our clients, suppliers and guests, we are committed to collectively reducing our impact on the planet.

Four Star Accreditation

Following an extensive refurbishment programme costing €7.2 million, The Gleneagle was elevated to four-star status by Fáilte Ireland. As well as refurbishing our existing guestrooms, we renovated and refurbished a wing of old, unused bedrooms, thereby increasing our capacity to 277 guestrooms without increasing our building footprint (neighbouring four-star properties include The Gleneagle Apartments and The Brehon). Our public spaces also benefitted from this investment and we look forward to showing you the results. In particular, we look forward to unveiling our five new INEC breakout suites ranging in capacity from 20 to 120pax.

Covid-19 Safety

The safety of both our delegates and our team is our key priority when it comes to hosting events. So, as well implementing the measures outlined in the Government-endorsed Covid-19 Safety Charter, we have a dedicated Covid-19 safety team tasked with implementing the most up-to-date guidance on creating a safe space for all.

Accessibility

We have also invested in our accessibility programme - seven of our guestrooms are now universally accessible, while a number of upgrades around the hotel make the building easier to navigate. Our accessibility programme also includes extensive team training on how to help create a more welcoming environment for all. In 2018, we made history by becoming the first business in the world to be accredited by the European Network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT). Our work was further acknowledged when we were named ‘Best Innovative Place to Stay’ at the 2019 Irish Tourism Industry Awards. We received this award for our innovative work in making our facilities and visitor experiences accessible to all.

Technology, Production and WIFI

While many of our improvements are instantly noticeable, many more are gradually revealed as our events come to life. Having invested in excess of half-a-million euro in our audio-visual, lighting and sound, we are now the proud operators of one of the most advanced production systems in the country. This, coupled with our highspeed WIFI capabilities, means that the intricate, flexible requirements of conferencing in a post pandemic era are now achievable.
